When Mercury acquired Trustpower in 2022, Uno Loco was asked to curate an experience to celebrate, reinforcing the positive impact it would have on staff, customers, and New Zealanders. The Mercury acquisition saw a doubling of customer connections, accelerating entry into the telecommunications market.
Positioning the milestone as ‘Wonderful Together’, it was important to foster a positive and inclusive experience that celebrated the history of both businesses, now one powerful force.
Around 1200 people from across the country attended a hybrid event at Auckland’s Civic Theatre, with 200 attending in person. The Uno Loco team designed an interactive digital timeline that allowed MC Stacey Morrison and executives from both businesses to travel through history. The timeline finale was a visual celebration of the brands coming together.
Change can cause unease, but as brand experience designers - we use our understanding of people to create experiences that change the way they feel. With design, content, film, broadcast and virtual, we produced a day of connection, recognition, and discovery. From the powerful waiata to musical performances and confetti cannons, the event was a great success for all.
